This site offers free resources including tips, lessons and strategies from Teaching Tools, news and current research with Issues in Literacy, a Literacy Community to connect with colleagues and a Career Center for job opportunities.

LITERACY.org
Literacy.org is a gateway to electronic resources and tools for the national and international adult literacy communities.

National Institute for Literacy (NIFL)
NIFL is a federal organization that shares information about literacy and supports the development of high-quality literacy services so all Americans can develop essential basic skills.

National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL)
NCFL is a nonprofit organization supporting family literacy services for families across the United States through programming, training, research, advocacy, and dissemination.


ELL

Center for Multilingual, Multicultural Research
The Center provides a base for those interested in multilingual education, English as a second language, foreign language instruction, multicultural education, and related areas to come together for research and program collaboration. It also includes links to related sites, a live chat room, and full-text articles.

The Internet TESL Journal
A monthly Web journal of articles, research papers, lesson plans, classroom handouts, teaching ideas, and links, all related to ESL. The journal also maintains TESL/TEFL/TESOL/ESL/EFL/ESOL links of interest to students and teachers of English as a second language.


Special Needs

Special Education Resources on the Internet (SERI)
SERI is a collection of Internet information resources of interest to those involved in the fields related to Special Education. Mental retardation, learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, and hearing impairment are only a few of the major resource groupings.

TeachingLD: Information and Resources for Teaching Students with Learning Disabilities
Created by the Division for Learning Disabilities (DLD) of the Council for Exceptional Children, this site's purpose is to provide trustworthy and up-to-date resources about teaching students with learning disabilities.


Teacher/Parent Resources Education Links

ERIC Clearinghouse on Reading, English, and Communication
This clearinghouse of the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) provides educational materials, resources, coursework, and links for parents, teachers, and students on all aspects of literacy and reading.

Book Report Network
The Book Report Network is a series of websites for teachers, librarians, and readers of every stripe. Member sites provide original content about books, including author interviews, reviews and commentary; interactive elements such as polls, questions, and message boards; and reading group guides and other reader resources. Two member sites—Teenreads.com and Kidsreads.com—are especially rich in features for teachers and parents seeking great reads for young people.

American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE)
Keep up with news about U.S. federal and state education policy by visiting the
AACTE Education Policy Clearinghouse. The site also offers daily news stories and a biweekly newsletter on education issues.

Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD)
ASCD is an international, nonprofit, nonpartisan education association committed to the mission of forging covenants in teaching and learning for the success of all learners. ASCD provides professional development in curriculum and supervision; encourages research, evaluation, and theory development; and disseminates information on education issues.


International Resources

International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY)
IBBY represents a worldwide network of people dedicated to promoting international understanding through children's books and encouraging the publication and distribution of quality children's books, especially in developing countries. Information and links to national sections are available.

International Bureau of Education
The IBE has three main lines of action: organizing the sessions of the International Conference on Education as an international forum for dialogue on educational policy; collecting, analyzing and disseminating educational documentation and information, in particular on innovations concerning curricula and teaching methods; and undertaking surveys and studies in the field of comparative education.

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
UNESCO's action in education is shaped around promoting education as a fundamental human right; improving the quality of education; and promoting experimentation, innovation, and the diffusion and sharing of information and best practices as well as policy dialogue in education.


Technology

Training Cafe
Training Cafe is a free interactive learning site that provides educators with technical skills they can use in both their professional and personal lives. Multimedia modules combine interactive instruction with extensive practice. The site was developed by educators and supports the National Education Technology Standards for Teachers set by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

Electronic Classroom
The Electronic Classroom provides teachers, teacher educators, and researchers with a forum to present and highlight classroom uses of technology. It also provides a place where those interested in literacy, education, and technology can find resources that show how technology and literacy can be integrated in K-12 classrooms.
